A beautiful cabochon of Larsonite (or Garry Green Jasper) originally from the USA (Utah/Oregon). It was discovered by Mr. Larson and Garry... and so it is sometimes called one thing and sometimes another, they probably didn't agree on it, and so the stone has two names. :-D The cabochon is cut here.
The origin of Larsonite is quite interesting, it is a petrified fossil mud with everything in it, which has undergone volcanic burning. The Yellow Stone phenomenon took care of that. Over the course of a million years, it moved along a 500-mile route (perhaps it is still moving inconspicuously today, but it is somehow unnoticeable on a human time scale) and wherever it went, it left behind burnt mud. It is still formed today. Our Czech porcelains also went through a similar process when volcanoes were still raging here.
Larsonite is a grounding, calming stone and, like all fossils, connects us to our past. It is useful for managing anger in a constructive way.
